Gallery masterplanning
The museum came to us in the lead up to its 100th anniversary in 2029, asking us to create a masterplan for renewing its permanent galleries.
Working with planner Tim Walker, we came up with an approach that would ‘snap together’ the museum’s strategic goals with tactical steps for achieving them through staged gallery and exhibition renewals.
The framework we created retained the institution’s war memorial functions and its much-loved galleries and taonga, while ensuring its exhibitions and experiences would meet modern visitor expectations and reflect the vibrant diversity of Tāmaki Makaurau.
